Yes Pacesetter
My Pacesetter Corporation Experience Minnesota Mpls Office
I Worked The Pacesetter Window Corp for 15yr in the Installation Dept Witch include Measuring / Installation and Servicing . Pacesetter was one of the best Companies ever to work for it was like a family as some of us were we all cared for each other and our customers in our office We worked together hand in hand with the Sales rep to the installers to make sure the customer knew just what their were getting and the correct product was sold and installed the proper way. and they knew what to expect from our company for a finished job. Their was always a place for you to get promoted. Company Wide They gave out a bonus for doing a good job in the service dept Quality Service Professionalize QSP. Our office always had one or more installer and Service teeck And Insulation Managers on that list each month. Yes there are some installers that came to us for employment saying they were the best and they weren’t and on their way they went. OUT THE DOOR! We were required by the main office to inspect a % of the jobs that were installed each month and the customers were called to verified each inspection and legit. After each install and service the customer received a questioner to fill out and mail to the main office Yes we heard about the bad ones few and far in-between in our office. All of our bonus was calculated from them. Along with the Office General Manager. Form what I been reading that in other offices their were a some employees that dint care about their carrier or any one else around them. Or the main person The Customers. The President Club consists of The Top Performing People in each department each year were offered a Trip for 2 and paid off days to attend such as Florida / Hawaii /Mexico /ECT – Yes I went several times nice break in Feb. Yes they made their own windows & Storm Doors in Omaha and had their own EMPLOYIES install them. Yes 401k and all of that other god stuff. The Scrager were down to earth and ethical guys to work for with a god business sense or they would not lasted as long as they did. And did not put all their eggs in one basket so they started a loan comp up to finance the customer’s that needed help financing. The ones most banks would not. their came a time when they needed to take a new direction with the window company to compete with all the other Retro fit window Home improvement Companies Spring up National Wide so they had a Gary Iskra come in and take over the window dept.He was know for sales increase with the Sears home improvement comp. so here comes the Iskra “year” Gary Iskra figured out that he could purchase windows from a window manf Cheaper and close the factory down and sell everything in the factory and office. He put hundred’s of people out of a job. Tried to. Turned the installers into subcontractors Less Over head and not responsible for work or conduct. He bragged he received millions to move the company to Baltimore? At the end Yes checks started bouncing in select departments as to keep the insulation sector going on to get every penny put of it he could. He filed chapter 11 End up oweing Republic Window Mfg / Precision Doors /Valley Oak. Millions of Dollars Along with Hundred’s of employees as like me. The big Companies will get something but none of us employees will ever see anything. But that is thanks to the US department of labor that protects the big guys not the back bone of the country. Us little guys Yes Pacesetter has Thousands Of customers out their offer the years and the odds are that some body isn’t going to be happy with what ever you give them. I’ve been in some of the nicest houses that I would not live in they were pig pens in some of the Best Neighbor Hoods. Some people think we were going to wave a wand and make their house like new come on I've seen wood on houses that was not painted in 10 years ( Like The ones at the beginning of this web site. and rotten so you could see in to the house and customers tell me that our window leaks and holds the water in and when I confronted the kids in front of their parent that they were peeing out the window come on people take blame on for what you caused your self and move on Pacesetter Windows are some of the top Technology in windows that were on the market at the time you purchased them as of to the day their storm doors and windows are still the best made on the market I was told The fiberglass window tools were sold to a company in California somewhere ant the rights to the door was sold to Precision Door Company. Yes I have Pacesetter Windows in my house their old side loads and Storm Windows and Storm Doors they are in Excellent shape still you got to take care of them, just like a New car ???????????? Re: Yes Pacesetter
Hey Buddy, thanks for posting that. I understand exactly what you're saying. Sounds like it was Iskra that ruined everything for everyone. He should be in jail.
People don't understand, windows are very technologically advance products. They can be expensive if you want top of the line. Cars and trucks are the same way. Then they don't take care of them, and when they are so dirty they won't seal, they blame the window. They'll spend 60k on a new kitchen, but want windows for free. Their house should be bulldozed over, and after the windows are installed they don't like the fact that they still live in a shit hole.
I have removed and replaced every window out there, from Pella to Andersen, from Marvin to Hurd, and all the builder grade junk as well. You have to maintain your house, people! Paint the trim and siding! If your siding is rotting off the house, and when the windows are installed some of it falls off, you blame the window?? Idiots. When you build a new deck, you better treat it every couple of years, or the wood will weather and rot! When your kids break the windows and the locks, you blame the windows?
Anyway, thanks again for the post. Too bad it ended the way it did. But haven't we seen this happen over and over when the original owners of a company sell the company. The new owners rarely operate with the same personal integrity that built the business.
By the way, I've seen absolutely horrible jobs by Sears, Champion, etc. I've seen lemon vehicles, also. You do your best and get on with your life.
