pacesetter siding
On April of 2003 we purchased aluminum siding from Pacesetter, we financed the $11,295. thru them. The work was done in a timely manner, we had a few problems and complaints, but they responded within reason. The following year, we refinanced our home and payed the loan off. Since then we have had nothing but problems. The most recent was a major wind storm, while we were at work. We came home to find a portion of our siding no longer attached to the home. We got on the phone and started calling, only to find out that we have a 50 year warranty that is of no use. I sorry that all of us haave been scammed but at the same time relieved that it wasn't just me. Thankfully my husband is a pretty good handyman around the house, so he has been able to reasonably repair the problems. Something should be done about people and companies that do this to honest, hard working people and older retired people that barely scrape by as it is!!!!!

Re: pacesetter siding
You might want to check with the siding manufacturer I think that the aluminum siding they used was from AI (Aluminum Industries), hopefully they're still around. Good luck!!

Unfortunately, an act of God (such as a windstorm) isn't neccessarily the installers fault. I'm not sure what the laws are in your state, but most states hold the contractor responsible for workmanship for no more than 3 years. I hope this answers a question or two for you.

Re: pacesetter siding
Perhaps it was a small tornado?
Strong winds can damage many things. Roofs, storm doors, trees, siding, utility lines... It is not the fault of the manufacturer or the installation company. Call your home owners insurance next time.
