I must say I never worked at Pacesetter and frankly I'm not even aware of the company. But I have worked in two companies that many of the people you have mentioned were leaders of. I've worked for Gary Iskra, Mickey Madden and Larry Krempasky. They do numerous companies together and basically they were run kind of the same. Basically, you have a product which is normally of average quality. Then they would hire telemarketers to pitch and send sales reps out to high pressure sell whatever it is. Personally, I worked for American Home Improvement Products which was licensed to sell stuff home improvement things for Sears such as windows,siding and kitchen refacing. If you ever saw the old commerical with Bob Villa, Sears and taking your best photo of your kitchen to win free kitchen refacing, it's those guys. Also, they ran a company called Advanced Water Solutions which sold water filtration products.
I wouldn't say that they sold inferior products or anything. But there were many flaws with their style of business. These guys originated in the Pittsburgh area, which is where I'm from as well. But for those unfamiliar with Pittsburgh, Alcoa is based here. We would just use Alcoa siding and pass it off as our own and charge basically double what any other contractor would charge. The hide behind their so called guarantee and the service side of the company was always ridiculously short staffed. The customer would recieve the number of either the telemarketing/sales office should they have a problem. But this would lead to countless situations of phone tag which would frustrate customers. It always seemed that they weren't happy about keeping customers happy or satisfied. Once they get your check, you'd be yesterday's news. They didn't seem to really care if you'd be a repeat customer because they will have sold that company so it would be the new owner's problem. At Advanced Water Solutions, there were constant lawsuits brought on by different attorney generals. It was so bad that there was a piece on Dateline NBC about some of the statements that salesmen made. One, I believe his name was Rick Wray had made was that our water filters could keep out Anthrax. This was slightly after 9/11 by the way. It may or may not have kept it out. But he was by no means any kind of authority. He was qualified to do basically a pool test.
I am aware of Mickey Madden dabbling in some exterior coating company that did work in California primarily. I'm not aware of what all Gary Iskra currently is involved in now. He is sort of the money man for these operations. I do know he was considering being involved in a home security company. So I wouldn't be surpised if there is one out there that is iritating customers. Gary's right hand man used to be his brother in law Al Kniffen. If you could find one, you could find the other. I am aware that Al Kniffen started a company called American Water Technologies. I'm sure it's a clone of every other company Gary Iskra was involved in. Advanced Water solutions eventually went bankrupt but this was shortly after Advanced WAter Technologies had opened. So I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't just their way of changing names to avoid legal action. All of the upper management went from the one company to the other. So I wouldnt be surprised.
I know i'm know help to you poor people that have had run ins with this crew. But I hope I was able to give a bit of information.
