I feel bad for the customer who said he need parts. Maybe home-depot would carry something suitable. Without Pacesetter offices being opened. I doubt he could even get in touch with a service line.

How pathetic. Perhaps the guys in charge can sell air travel and discounted hotel stays in Vegas when this is over and done with. Just think of all the opportunity the EXECUTIVES had right in their lap. People want to be led, Pacesetter's big brass just can't/didn't seem to understand.
"Let's see, we can tell them about the services, yeah that's the ticket, the services brought us down." No here's another good one, "The mileage is tanking us," blah blah blah

Let's see: Vp Executive of Sales
National Sales Managers
Regional Sales Managers
District SAles Managers
Office Sales Managers
Assistant sales Managers
Senior Field Trainers

Who over see's all these sales manager(s)?
Who then manages the sales people in the field ?
Maybe the big, "Customer Service" banner/poster they got hanging on some wall. Do they still even have a customer service banner or have they got rid of the customer service department. Why in the world would someone who paid top dollar for their product expect some sort of customer service ? I almost forget its them darn customers who are sinking them. Ever why they have so many services ? Maybe they can move some of that sale power into the customer service office, you may have to have a phone line installed but its a small cost to keep the customers satisfied.

I'm living off a trust fund,

"Direct Sale"

I think once upon a time this was the co. motto.
From what I hear the company has a few loyal souls left
attempting to stand by their company. Its come to my attention
through many sources they haven't been paid as well.
I wonder if the Executives know who they have left standing. Give the Executives a little more time those left standing will also he hurrled over. I'd be willing to bet that right under their noses with the few people they have left the lunatics could still turn a cool million. Oh yeah, being paid is also a driving force. Oh yeah, being treated with professional courtesy is also a driving force, and oh yeah
hard to go to their customer base for more business in a pinch like they have in the past, that customer "UNSERVICE" will get you all the time. Maybe, Just Maybe running a big business requires more then they can bring to the table.
In closing, what is really shameful the unwillingless to rally their people in hard times, why ? Somewhere along the way they must have forgotten people (customers, employess) are the most valuable asset in the direct sales game.

Why not call your new(OLD) company something that truly applies, Like (We screwed our last customers and employees windows and dooors.) Bettter yet just do whats right and don't open at all. Clean the mess up from your last efforts. Before you try again remember all the people you stole from and lied to. Remember Gary God will punish you for the way you are treating people. So before you walk in that church on Sunday you better do some soul searching as to whom you conduct business with. Iskra and Madden are not known for their ethics only their greed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If Iskras company was such a success why isnt Pacesetter #1. Because he got lucky!!!!! Take away that big name (Retail Giant you know the one, Starts with an S.) And he would still be a has been rocker from the sixties. Like his music he was a one hit wonder in business as well. The man upstairs will punish all of you for your selfish acts of greed. Greed by the way is one of the seven sins. You will fail in this effort.

I hope you learn your lesson

Hello,

I am sorry to hear of the way pacesetter has screwed you all. I am no exception. I was employed by pacesetter for 3 months (as a factory rep). In those 3 months I drove over 20k miles and worked 60hr weeks. In the end I had "made" about $2400. In hindsight it seems impossible that I believed the pacesetter dream. I'm glad I have a conscience and didnt screw people like I had been taught to do. Anyway, I have been recently contacted by Tierra Portfolio Services about a debt of $1100 to pacesetter (commission draw). For any of you that have also been contacted by these people please see this site, ( http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/debt_validation.shtml ) I have found no proof that this company is legit. It is registered nowhere that I have been able to find. IT WILL BE A COLD DAY IN HELL BEFORE THEY RECEIVE ONE RED CENT FROM ME. Any company affiliated with pacesetter in any way CANNOT BE TRUSTED. Please do not waste your hard earned money by paying these scammers.

May pacesetter burn in hell.

I guess I got lucky and only lost my deposit of $650. I think the company is still succeeding because they give the lowest bid on their cabinet refacing. I signed the contract (said I'd pay cash at the end of the job, I think that was lucky also-no financing contract). They called in June and said they were coming on a certain Friday, I took the day off of work, but they never showed up. And I haven't heard from them since! My frequent calls have all been to voice mails-can never reach a real person. So I learned an expensive $650 lesson!!!! Has anybody out there talked to a real person from the company after getting into problems?

My biggest problem; I'm a dedicated worker & never a boatrocker. I didn't want to believe that the company I've hitched EVERYTHING to was going to do all the things they've done. All the signs were there, waving wildly in front of my face, one right after another, long before the lies began to appear in the form of official memos.

I'm kicking myself for not having a 'Plan B' in place. And as a result, me & my family are broke & homeless, w/ car taken away, and with no final paycheck to get a fair start. (Gary Kluck-Kluck is not returning my phone calls)

One good thing I've learned from all this: It's just like having both hands in a cast & having to take a piss. - You really find out who your friends are.

I'm moving on while fighting for the money I'm owed !!!

Dangerous for Pacesetter or whatever the new name will be.

Hi my name is steve i worked for pacesetter in their pittsburgh cranberry location. i got hired in january i was a salesman at first and when i realized that was too much driving and work for what it was worth they offered me a job in Kmart. so i did that for a week or two and then they lost Kmart as a promoter because of their join with Sears, supposedly. so then i decided i would work in the call center in cranberry. i was very successful for them and it seemed that i found something that i honestly didnt mind doing. I got paid every week what i was supposed to. i couldnt complain. then after a few months starting in april i would say, they had started giving employees checks that were being returned as nonsufficient. i never got a bad one. They said it was just hiccup in the company bla bla bla. so then the checks eventually didnt come. this happened in may, they said they would eventually be there. i felt that it was no reason to immediately leave my company just because one check was late. then the next check was late and they never informed us of what was going on just that they would make good on the checks by next wed and thursday and all this bullshit. so then 3 weeks go by we all are ready to leave but desperate for our money. they tell us we are laid off. They still promise us checks. so checks come in the mail for one of the weeks and i paid my bills gratefully and of course, the checks are returned to my bank. so now i am in debt to my bank and i have nothing. i am going to lose my car and cant pay my bills. how about those of pacesetter that have families and children. i cant imagine. well thats my quick story i hope u can post it.

Subject: Embarassed and ashamed

I began working for Pacesetter in April, 2003. I didn't particularly relish the idea of working on full-commission, but a good friend of mine was working there at the time and seemed to like it okay.

A red-flag should have gone up the instant I walked in the door. I learned a valuable lesson that day--If an employer is trying to talk you into taking the job, instead of you trying to sell yourself to the employer, GET OUTTA THERE!!! But, I needed a job and my best friend worked there, so what the heck.

Everything started innocently enough. Training on the sales methods and learning about the products. Pretty standard stuff. Throughout my training ($300/wk), I noticed that several people quit, and several that were hired the same time as me quit. At this point I was starting to get a little hesitant about my new "career".

When training ended, I set out on my own. Not feeling the least bit prepared. My 2 weeks of training certainly did not have me to the point where I felt confident walking into someone's home to sell them $15,000 worth of windows. But that's exactly what I did. My first lead-$15,000 deal. That, understandably, buoyed my spirits considerably and the commission received from that job was enough to make the job bearable--for awhile.

Summers in Dallas are brutal. 100 degrees + almost everyday and at times very humid. We worked sun-up to sun-down that summer, 6 days a week. The so-called "leads" that the call center gave us every morning were usually garbage. Most of the people either weren't home, or only one of the spouses was at home. Despite all of this, the end of the spring and beginning of summer went well. I was making decent money and I couldn't complain.

Then they switched our sales territories. When I first started, we were working in good neighborhoods. Established, upper-middle class families that were either too stupid to realize these prices were outrageous, or had so much money they didn't care. After a month and a half of this, they moved us to South Dallas. I don't know how much you know about Dallas, but South Dallas is THE bad part of town. Need less to say, sales suffered. Almost to the point of non-existence.

Those are all specifics, now for some generalities.

I put, on average, 300 miles a day on my car. All with no gas or car expense reimbursement.

Several times my sales manager and I had it out over me not selling someone. I simply couldn't bring myself to sell things to someone who could not afford them. The elderly and the poor were favorite targets of Pacesetter when I was employed there.

There were innappropriate relationships between upper-level management in our call center in San Antonio and telemarketers. It was a very unprofessional work environment-Lot's of cursing, lewd comments and general unprofessionalism.

Drinking before sales calls was standard operating procedure. Most days there was a lot of time to kill in between leads. Twice, my assistant manager took me to strip clubs in the middle of the day to help pass the time.

As you know, the Pacesetter program is a 10 step sales pitch. The standing challenge in the office was who could complete the 11th step-with the lady of the household. I won't elaborate further. This had apparently happened a few times. The disrespect that these customers were treated with, behind their backs, was apalling.

I guess the crowning event of the summer was the trip to Midland, TX. My best friend and I were sent 200 miles away for a period of one week in order to do sales calls. We were given $300 each. This was supposed to be adequate for 6 nights stay, plus food and gas expenses while we were there. We ended up sharing a room in a sub-standard motel just so that we would have money left to eat.

We finally got fed up with it and decided to quit. We loaded up all our gear and arrived at the office before out manager did so that we could get everything unloaded and waiting by the door when he got there. By the way, we were the only two sales reps still working out of this office. When he got there and we told him the decision we had made, he became irate. He tried to put us on a guilt-trip by telling us that we were really screwing him and "How could you guys do this to me?" We finally just had to walk out.

There are so many more stories that I could go into. There simply isn't enough space.

Thanks for what you are doing. I truly believe that you are helping people not get mixed up with this company, and that's a good thing.

Thanks, again

Subject: Pacesetter's warranty?

I received a phone call and said yes to finding out about the windows. I had recently purchased my first home and I knew that the windows need to be replaced. They were single paned and moved in the winter month storms. I liked the sales people that came out to show me the product. I liked what I saw, as I was comparing them to windows that have been in the walls since the turn of the century. They did keep out the noise, as promised. They reduced the heat from the blistering summer sun, as promised. I fell in love with the windows, they did what they were ment to do.

The installers where the best. Without Rick here doing the installing I would have left my house half done. I know that most of this area is for really bad stuff and yes I have some complaints but I guess I got most of what was promised to me. I did have a wrong measurement of the screen/storm door with my first order ( 1 large picture window with sliders on each side, I up/down window in the livingroom and 1 window in the kitchen - side slide), they remeasured it and I received it 6 weeks later but it fit perfectly.

Then I ordered windows for the back/upstairs bedroom, 2 side/sliders and one small picture window. On the installation day of those windows we discovered that the picture window was 4 inches to short. So that one had to be re-ordered. Again it took 6 weeks to get but it too was installed.

At the time of purchasing these three new window's I was informed that the company no longer made their own windows but was getting them from another window company and that they were just as good as pacesetter's window but that they would sit on the frame work of the old window. But Rick said that he could take out the entire frame and just replace the whole thing for me, which is what I wanted and he complied.

With this second purchase I felt that a little compensation was due as I had yet another delay of the product ordered caused by the wrong numbers presented for the picture window. I wrote to Ms Beth Grogen to ask for a reduction of $200.00 for compensation. She sent me a letter to sign and she lowered my amount to be paid by $200.00. I had been introduced to this person from my installers from the first go around. Rick said that if I wanted to send a letter of appreciation for Rick and Dan that she would be the person to send it to. I did and they both received $100.00 as an award for a job well done. These two men are great at their jobs and worked long on my house to make sure everything was right and that I was very happy with their work. Pride in your craft is a wonderful thing to observe, they are great and no matter where they end up the business that hires them will be better for it. Any way I am skipping ahead of myself.

I re-financed my home to lower the interest rate and to pay off my bills (pacesetter included) so I called Steve (the mouth/smiling/bs artist) and told him to send Rick back out to finish up the house, five more windows and we would be all done. Once again a window was measured wrong. So I sent Beth another letter with on avail. I called pacesetter to speak to her as Rick was coming out with the new window and I needed to pay for the windows, (90 day same as cash contract)and I was told that Ms Grogen no longer worked for pacesetter, she had retired. But the man (sorry I don't remember his name) said he would drop $200.00 from the bill as well. So I signed that paper and paid $200.00 less for this latest contract.

The problem that I am having with pacesetter is this, one window is broken (by the installer - opps!!! no one is perfect) but no response to my question - where is my window???? During this period of where is it, I discover that the Redding California company is no longer. I keep calling the 1-800 number and they are real nice but I still haven't heard when the window will be here. If I can't get the warranty work done then the warranties that I have paid for on all of these wonderful windows isn't worth spit. I would love to go after the company for half of the balance of my purchases/price if there isn't any warranty. Any one know any attorneys that would love to take on a giant? I'll climb on board.

Thanks for listening, hopefully something can be done for all of us. April

Not sure how it works in other states but in California you can lookup the labor board on line and download the appropriate forms and vist your local labor board office. I really did not want it to come to this but I am at the end of my rope.
PS. To the person that mentioned a class action lawsuit, I definately would be interested but am not familiar with how to pursue. I also know of several former customers (now friends) who might be interested.

He said he is "in the dark" just like everyone else.

If this is true then can anyone tell me why these people still continue to work there? They (Sups and Mgrs) must be getting paid. Surely they are not so stupid as to believe that the same thing will not happen to them as what has happened to all the rest of us. I am thinking very seriously of filing a law suit against them and taking them to court to recover my losses. I have also contacted the Department of Labor and filed a complaint for loss of wages. These people are crooks and need to be dealt with as you would any other crook! Has anyone else given any thought to a class action suit against the company?

Subject: PACESETTER DOES SUCK

I worked for Pacesetter for 4 months in 2004 and I can tell you they do SUCK. If anything goes wrong they want you to ignore the problem. Sales Reps that have an off week are coerced into taking an employee draw (loan) that will be deducted from future commissions. The problem is they NEVER take the deduction so you are stuck in a state of constantly owing the company money. Like I said I left the company after 4 months and in my last week I made two good sales where I should have made commissions to cover what was left on my draw. I asked my Sales Manager to make sure that it was covered so that when I left we were settled. The Sales Manager said that they would send me a notice if I owed anything, and nothing came. Now A YEAR AND A HALF LATER I get a letter from a collection agency threatening to ding my credit if I do not pay it back. I was told that Pacesetter was sold and the new owners went bankrupt. Now ALL sales reps that owed in their draws have to pay up RIGHT AWAY.

THIS SUCKS........

Lets face it folks-Mr. Gary Kluck is just an egomaniac that started out as a "Cheesehead" in Wiscounsin. He got in on a "Pyramid Scam" called Pacesetter and started the West Coast Profit Center as he puts it with a cardboard box and a telephone. He benefited from being on the top of the pyramid and smoked big cigars after a successful month with his sales staff at big dinners and drove a big black Mercedes, with his Mr PMA license plate. He's "new Money" and "blood Money" at that. He's loud and obnoxious and likes to be the center of attention. At one of his "motivational" semenars, an unempressed saleman was asked "during warm up, what do you talk about? What do you think I like to do? And the salesman said I dono - Bull Shit! and Gary, stunned by the response , said well yeh, but... as everybody laughed their ass off and sunk into their seats with disbelief". I've known Gary since Jan 1997 and he can be a likeable guy, but he's just a side show at the circus. Nothing more, with his stories about the relentless pusuit of perfection and stories about the movie Ground Hog Day and his succeess stories about using the power of positive thinking. He got lucky and he's no better than any other farmer from Wiscousin that got startled by the big city lights and tempted by the Devil. In his case he allowed the Devil to control him with his greed and lust for money. Money doesn't buy everything and esspecially respect! All the cute blonde wives and big fancy cars and big expensive dinners with all you can drink isn't going to gain any respect. As far as I saw at Pacesetter, they liked to party and get drunk and do allot of other things that one should not be proud of. Hell, the guys at the Redding office won a houseboat trip for three days and Gary and 2 other desciples kicked us off after one night, so they could eat Steak and Lobster with their girlfriends and wives, while we got hotdogs and hamburgers. We had to go sell things and they had to party. That's fair! And this was our reward for setting a record. We did the work - they got to party. Be back with more as it comes to me. I've been in PTS since 2001 and have repressed memories that have to get excosised.

They have to pay you at leasts minimum wage, so if you worked a 40 hr week at $7.50/hr, then that would be $300.00/week and he worked for 5 weeks - that would be $1500. You should go to your labor board and get the other $300.00 that they still owe you. I'm basing this on California, so, you might want to check your local labor laws. Pacesetter has been caught breaking labor laws many times and had to pay up!!! Trust me - I am experienced!!!

Just remember that Pacesetter's philosophy is: "It's only the tip of the iceberg, there is no such thing as an isolated incident and wherever there is smoke there is fire". This is quote from there "flight school" by their corporate counsel while I attended and graduated 4 years ago. So, going on the primace that pacesetter believes this, they probably practice it and feel that since they do, then you must as well. Basic logic 1A. Mr. Kluck has lied to me with conviction and has done many other things that is indicative of his character. Lets just use a comparison as an example: "If a man cheats on his wife and steals a mom w/kids away from her husband, would you think that you would be anyone that he would care about losing?" This is not to accuse anybody of anything, and I'm saying that he did this, but read between the lines. Go to the State of California Labor Relations Board and they will fix you right up. Sincerely! (530)225-2013, 2115 Civic Center Drive, Room 17. Talk to Eric Rood. Pacesetter has lost class actions suits to former employees and have a long history with having to pay former employees what they were due. Good Luck!!!! Is Pacesetter in "receivership"? I recently received a letter from a debt collector. Mt husband worked for Pacesetter for a VERY short time (5 weeks). In that time he did receive a commission but now they are saying we owe them money ($1200) for his draws. When he left, he was told that he did NOT owe anything. It has been over a year since he left and we were not notified of any debt til this week. Has any former employee encountered this problem? I have tried to look up the agency but do not find it listed. Of course, I did call them and they answered but they still indicated we owed the money because Pacesetter owed debts. Thank you for your time.

See, I told you there was drug use going on at the Sac call center. That explains the demeanor of that "former Redding telemarketer", that used to tell people to "go put their Jammies on and go night night", when they would give their observation of his leads. This was something that he needed to do, but couldn't, due to the drugs (go night night).

Reguarding the best ever I just wanted to note that the best telemarketer ever was Simon Williams. He won the Victor award presented to him by the Swaggers themselves. The award assembly was held in I believe Maimi Flordia. He was the first and only telemarketer to receive this award. In the year of either 99 or 2000 he made almost $300,000.00.More than most plastic surgeons. He broke every record that pacesetter ever held. This man was the ultimate icon for telemarketing, until he got involved with drugs that distroyed him. Managers knew about his drug use, mostly Robert Douthit and Gary Kluck. Yet he was never drug tested or reprehanded for his problem. Unfortunatly I used drugs with Simon also, today I am drug free and working a 12 step program, for alittle over 2 years now.

Almost everyone I used with were all Pacesetter employees. To make a long story shot Simon Williams died November 4th 2001 due to a bacteria infection that was drug induced. He hadnt been working for Pacesetter for about a year. His drug use started there and because of his outstanding telemarketing ability he was never addressed on this problem.

Everything on this web site is true. I used to think a dark cloud hovered over that place. I havent worked there in almost 5 years and it's amazing to hear that finally something has happenened for the truth to come out. That place was like the maphia of home improvents.

What you described about the 3 hr drive and the lack of need or the ability to pay is what some telemarketers call "poor lead coverage and qualifying". Go back a few days on this feedback system and tell your story to the un-named former Redding Telemarketer. The telemarketers got bonuses for leads that were hit and demoed. A demo should last up to 3+hrs with a price put onto the table. Imagine driving 3 hrs to a house and ariive at 8pm. One would keep the potential customer up til near midnight, and they would have to make a decision then, and then go to work the next day, (if they were employed). I have experienced that exact same situation many times over the period that I worked there and have got into shouting matches with greedy telemarketing managers, more than once. Since leads are not pre-screened for credit, you would not find out that they were not qualified until they either fell out of their chairs when you gave out the price, or they got bank rejected after closing the deal, which you would not be found out until after you had turned in all the paperwork, for several days. Oh, and what about the notorization required in some states. If you are not one, of which I was, then you either have to go find one or make a special trip back. There's a lot of time and travel involved, which is obvious. The reason they don't want customers called to let them know you are on the way is because, they would tell you that they were talked into the appointment and you would be wasting your time coming. Would you feel like continuing there now? I know that telemarketing will tell customers just about anything to get them to agree to an appointment. I have even had a tape recording played back to me of what was said by an irate customer once I arrived at their house. This one I drove 70 miles on a "burn-out" and was told that "I just wanted someone from your company to come here so I could have you hear this". When I brought this to my manager's attention, I was the bad guy, for "buying into" their objections and to "make a friend" and "warm-up" and demo it and "Love the one you're with", etc. I was Salesman of the month and it didn't matter. These multi-level-management companies are all about money and greed! Sorry about the insurance thing. That really sucks and isn't out of character.

Subject: Pacesetter Cons Employees Also

I am glad I came across your site. One of my family is an employee of pacesetter. He took the job because we have to have insurance for my brother who is an invalid. He was conned into thinking he would be working for an up-front and good company. He has been looking for other work because they continually send him out on calls up to three hours away and when he gets there, it is obvious that the people do not need the product and will not be able to be financed. He is not allowed to call ahead and he is not re-imbursed for fuel or other expenses.

It was bad enough but then he got notification that Pacesetter had dropped health insurance coverage for it's employees. They notified him two days after it was supposedly dropped and told him that new coverage would begin May 1, 2005. The actual coverage stopped on April 8th. We have been unable to get a certificate of coverage so we cannot purchase insurance on our own. I am now told that there is only one employee working in their offices and they will not return phone calls. We have since begun receiving medical bills for the period when we didn't know about our lack of coverage. Pacesetter had continued to deduct insurance charges from the paycheck. They are an evil and unethical company. He has always done his best for anyone he sold to. Now they say he will have coverage on July 1, 2005. They are trying to drag it out long enough so he can no longer use the certificate of insurance which we have yet to receive. Do not take a job with Pacesetter. Don't believe their promises.

In response to all the Pacesetter bashing having worked there for a long long time from rep to manager my complaints are few. Pacesetter gave me benefits , 401k, vacations, salary, trips, bonuses, spiffs and great training in the home improvement industry. In fact I know many people after leaving Pacesetter have started there own co. and have been very successful due to there training. In there current state right now they are having great difficulty in staying in bussines. Paceseeter required alot of your time and energy like any career. The payroll issue is the straw that broke the camels back and really caused alot of us to be angry. My comments for all the bashers is get a life move on its a free country nobody forced you to work there you did by choice!Paceseeter did not lie to customers people did so if you want to blame somebody look at the person not the company! So, Mr. I won several Victor's, why don't you explain to all the pissed off customers how you won those? What office are you from and what is your name and did you go to the Bahamas in 2000? The next year the trip was cancelled, due to 911 fears. I am in the same boat with several ex-employees with the whole $$$ thing. My hope is that I will receive the money due me however do not beleive that will happen. I was with the company almost 4 years and met a whole bunch of wonderful employees AND customers. Indeed there are laot of bad apples however, there are alot of good apples. While I am truly frustrated about the whole downfall, the thing that bothers me the most are those customers out there who have had and may have service issues which will never be addressed. Not to mention the customers who are still waiting for there refund checks.

I have been told by sources that the new company name will be "Optimus" (sp.). How do I know you ask? The Portland office had 3 legal notices attached to it's doors last week which made mention of "Optimus", formerly known as Pacesetter. I'm not trying to burn bridges here just want "the truth" stated. GOOD LUCK to all who read this site whether they are emploees, ex-employess or customers.

Best I ever did was win an ARC award and take a trip to the Bahama's back in 2000. I was the Assistant Sales Manager in Redding, CA. I worked there from Jan 1997 to Dec 1997 and then again from Apr 1999 to Dec 2001. I won Salesman of the month 14 times during that period. At one time I held the single month record for sales. I tried to do my best, but when you work from 8am to midnight most days, it will wear you down. I enjoyed selling and meeting new people all over the Northern California area. I think that the goals that were set for telemarketers and the goals of the salespeople would make the two advisaries at times. It's all about money. The whole Pacestter thing was about money. If money is all one needs and was willing to sacrifice having a life, then it (money) could be made working at Pacesetter. I had no idea that Pacesetter had gone under. I was trying to contact Gary Kluck in the Spring time to get his Redding Office to participate in our Home and Recreation Show here in Eureka, CA., but he never would return phone calls. I tried several times to reach him and to no avail. I just recently on the spur of the moment looked up this site and saw that they had gone out of business. Apparently, there is an ex-telemarketer, that will not name theirself that has an ax to grind with me. That is the individual that I have been speaking about. I was severely attacked by an annonymous person and being backed into a corner, it's a case of fight or flight. Well, I fight. Thanks for your inquiry. Steve Hammons

After reading your replies, it should be obvious to anyone who has ever been screwed by Pacesetter, where the problem lies. Uncivilized, foul mouthed individuals like you were calling people. For your info, I was Salesman of the month almost every month and have the hardware to prove it. Logic - If I was so bad at my close ratio, then how much better can you get than salesman of the month? Question, what kind of car was I driving? You are so full of distortions that you couldn't recognize the truth if it hit you on the head. Do you think you can write anything without sounding like a drunk biker? I don't know who you are, since you are such a coward that you can't even say who you are, but I just don't think you would talk so bold in person, now would you? You hide behind the security of anonimity and distance to rant and rave and call names and distort the truth. You are so full of anger, like as if I stole money out of your pocket or something. Well, Mr or Mrs Un-named telemarketer, you know we were both commisioned salaried employees and unless you were with me and saw what I did, you can only speculate about your opinions about blowing off leads. What incintive does a commission saleman have to not sell something? Do you think that they like to drive around out in the middle of the back woods in Yreka just to enjoy the scenery? I don't know what it would be like to be a telemarketer, so I can't make a judgement about what it's like, but I am an adult and have a sound mind and can judge situations with the best of them. What do you think people are going to think when they read your comments. They read mine and see a compassionate individual, who feels people's pain and then when they read your comments about that, they will see someone who doesn't care and cusses allot and calls one's wife a Bitch. Who do you think they are going to favor, esspecially when this site is dedicated to unhappy customers of Pacesetter. I am not going to bother answering anymore of your vulgarities and distortions. Oh, I forgot to mention the lies that the telemarketing dept commited. They forgot that I would call them from the other end of the parking lot and ask for a "burn-out" while training a new person and since the new person had all ready pointed out what you guys and girls would do, I had to see it for myself. Since the sales staff was to call in for a "burn-out" up till 8 pm we did that from the other end of the parking lot while in Sac. You guys and girls would say that you were "working the salesman" and then file out of the office in mass an have a smoke and joke session. Also, it was pointed out that there was some drug trafficing going on as well and wouldn't you know it, the dealer would pull up in the parking lot and do their thing and be gone. This was also pointed out and witnessed. So, Mr. "we had a party when I left", we all know that you were on a constant party, don't we. If you are who I think you are, then your demeanor explains your character. Please don't characterise me as an unwanted entity. I have worked in some strange and shady places, but Pacesetter takes the cake! While I worked there I witnessed employees on acid and other forms of illegal substances (while still on the time clock), I saw many employees whose paychecks either bounced or never materialized though it never happened to me. What did happen to me and many others was that we were given a particular date when we could pick up our paychecks. Some people drove a considerable distance on their day off only to find that the date for paycheck pick up had changed for some ambiguous reason. This happened two days in a row recently and I can only imagine how many times it has happened since. The workplace was incredibly unsanitary- no cleaning crew, no toilet paper, no hand towels. Some people were even bringing in their own toilet paper just in case they had to use the bathroom. There was, for almost a week, blood in the men's bathroom and on the urinals that remained unattended to. Some of the Sam's Club greeters I talked to via phone told me they were not informed that Pacesetter was severing its ties with Sam's Club (thus, severing their positions) until the actual day of their termination, even though everyone in our call center had known about it for a week. Despite claims to the contrary there was at times a very noticeable amount of favoritism going on, not to mention repeated claims by other employees (generally female) that they were being favored because of their gender, or that they felt the higher ups were making advances. I talked to many customers who had either a terrible opinion of Pacesetter or who were in the process of having Pacesetter products installed on their homes who reported only half of the project being finished or who said the installers had been waiting in excess of two months for the remaining part of the customer's order to arrive. Generally employees received two ten minute breaks on top of a lunch break for an eight hour shift, but in the call center I worked in the manager took away the ten minute breaks on the grounds that employees only utilized those ten minutes to complain about the company. Not to mention the fact that call center employees would set leads that representatives would fail to run, and in these cases very rarely did the reps call the customer to let them know that they would be showing up. Managers were required to work overtime for less than half of their regular hourly wage, and according to at least one person, the leads that were generated were then reassigned to certain individuals that were favored to get bonus checks. They changed the bonus structure so repeatedly that no one knew what the actual bonus structure was nor if they were being ripped off for their bonus checks. Certain employees claimed that their job titles were changed without them ever knowing it so that they could no longer claim unemployment. One employee was even told that she was terminated in the system, though she had never been told about this and was still collecting paychecks. When benefits were cancelled, no one was told until after it happened and there was no COBRA plan offered, and many people had chosen Pacesetter because they couldn't wait another six months for benefits at another job. Many of these people have families and children and felt that they had job security with Pacesetter Corporation.

There was so much that happened in the time that I was employed at Pacesetter that it would be hard to recount every event, but this is a nice sampling. Perhaps the most incredible thing about all of this is that it was happening in the same building to which Pacesetter was supposedly in the process of moving their corporate offices. If this is happening in corporate, how many shady things could possibly be taking place in their other locations? You know it's pretty bad when the local Walmart won't even cash your paycheck.

From what I have been told a local news station will be airing a story about Pacesetter and their crooked ways. Anyone in Pittsburgh should tune in!

I was going through a management seminar back in Omaha ant Pacesetters factory when news broke out about the planes crashing into the world trade center and the Pentagon. After this happened, Pacesetter had probably their worst sales week on record. Their "National Sales Manager", who was the instructor said "what's the matter with these sales people anyway - they still have bills to pay"! Right then and there, I lost all interest in being employed by this company. I could feel the pain of those who lost thousands of loved ones in the World Trade Center and the Pentagon as well as the plane that crashed in Penn.

It brings justice for all those people that wore out their cars running leads for this scum bag organization. It's so good to hear that they are out of business! I feel sorry for all those people that were sold windows with 25 year non-prorated windows on the premice that the company would still be in business. This parasitic company has finally run it's coarse. Well, I guess there is a carnaval or two that some of their managers could hook up with. They need some good bull shitters to run their booths.

Subject: Now they will have to get a real job!

As a former assistant manager, I got to know their system real well. I mainly had to work at this place due to the proximity of my home to the work centers. I was 2 hrs away from civilization, so this job met my needs, due to the out of town motel type business that it was. I even won a trip to the Bahamas one summer. I felt like a "mercinary"(sp?), just going through the motions. It became clear to me that I didn't like the company, their products, or the cookie cutter clone desciples, which they called managers. If a customer didn't want to make a decision right away, then it was your fault and you had to get raked over the coals at 8am the next day over the phone in your motel room. (Oh, I forgot, they were just trying to help you be a better saleperson). This made me very mad, due to the fact that some 20 something year old punk that was put into a manager's position, who didn't even do as well as you when he was a salesman was trying to tell you what you should have done. I'm just glad that these scum bags are out on the street looking for work right now, and being that Pacesetter has such a great reputation:-), their resumes will not help them find another job. I quit right after one Thanksgiving back in 2001, when I was at Clearlake, CA. We were instructed to stay there on Thanksgiving Eve and run leads, during a driving rain storm and a 5 hr drive to get home after our last call, that could last till midnight. No funds were provided to stay over night and we were supposed to go back down there on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. I saw at this moment that this company was not concerned at all about family values and amoung other things I quit, cold turkey! They wanted me back, but I stuck to my priciples and even got unemployment. Well, since then I have been a Yellow Page Account Representative and for the last 2 years, I have been a Marketing Consultant for a local paper in Eureka, CA. I am doing well and when I tell my wife, who is a banker what my experiences were like, she says, that she is so sorry that I had to go through that experience. We have been married for 1 1/2 years. Thank God that I survived the Pacesetter experience and hope that those con artists, who I will not name, but they know who they are, have to push a shopping cart and live under an overpass to make up for their past sins. Justice has finally been served. Nice knowing you Dave (who has a color for a last name), and Gary (Mr. Ground Hog Day)(whos last name is a sound that a chicken makes). Hope you get to experience what I did!

Subject: we also had a really, really sucky experience with pacesetter and are glad were not the only ones.we're not crazy!

we were sold the "fantastic Coating" product from pacesetter. Our first clue was when after making the sale, a man came to our house to our house to authorize our signature for the contract so that they could "take our house" if we did not pay. We were not told this by the salesman and so we said we were not interested. Not that we weren't planning to pay,but the threat of taking our house was not somthing that we wanted held over our heads. We were told at this time that because we signed the origional agreement more than three days before, we were by law unable to back out on the contract. We went ahead with the "coating" project, but trying to find out when someone was actually going to come out was almost impossable. No one would be in the office, or they would say i would have to talk to someone else, who wasn't there. finally someone came out. no one called ahead to say they were coming, they just showed up one day. the men who showed up were very nice hispanic men who were "only painters". they said they had never worked with this "coating stuff". They hosed down the house and were ready to spray the primer. Since the salesman had promised all kinds of prep work (considering after interest,we were going to be paying over twenty one thousand dollars to "paint" a one thousand square foot home)I stopped them to ask about sanding and prep work. they kept repeating "were just painters". They had no tools or equiptment to do anything but paint. Even their sprayer quit and they said it was old and didnt know what to do next. They left and after several calls to Pacesetter, they came back after a couple of weeks. As soon as the started putting on the main coat, after the primer, we knew they had the wrong color. We had wanted light grey with dark grey trim. The color they were putting on our house was white. It was whiter than the primer that was supposed to be white. After several more calls to pacesetter, they finally sent someone out from the company.I told him all of the problems we were having. He wrote all over the house the things that the people should,"SAND HERE,CALK HERE," etc. After the twenty plus thousand "paint job" all this writing showed right through the paint, most of which was right around the front door, and very conspicuous. I was going to complain about this, but while looking at this, I noticed that the coating was bubbling up all around the house.I took pictures of this and other places around the house that were peeling off in huge sections. I didn't get much response, but kept taking pictures every month or so as the problem got worse and worse. I finally sent them about two dozen pictures of the paint peeling off over the year. After threatning to go to the local T.V. station and to an attourney, they finally offered to do vinal siding at no extra cost. This offer started a whole new set of "fun with Pacesetter". If I get a response from this and if you're interested, I'll go into the details of chapter two of the Pacesetter horror. Thanks for listening. Please respond. Zoanne iamzoanne@aol.com

I am a current employee of Pacesetter of Grand Rapids. As far as the pushy telemarketers go, I always talk to people like they were my mom or my grandma. However, I cannot say that about others. There will always be idiots where ever you go. My real complaint is that today, 5/26/05,they told us to go home and come back Wednesday the 1st. The paychecks we were supposed to get today will not be in until 6/2/05. We were supposed to get paid 5/23/05. For the past 2 weeks they have been at least 3 days late with our checks and several people who are getting checks have had them bounce. Our boss Mike, told us today that no one was getting singled out to get paid while others were not. He said that he would not lie to us and everyone had to wait until the 2nd to get paid. Not true, the Managers will be paid sometime between Friday and Saturday, granted, the managers have not been paid in a month, and they deserve to be paid, but how can you look us in the eyes and lie to us, those who have been loyal. Were you afraid of the reaction you would get from us? You should be. You do not see any of us telemarketers driving a 60,000.00 truck to work. We are working class people trying to keep our heads above water by doing an honest days work and you treat us like this Mike, shame on you. People at work will find out about this, I'll see to it. We had almost $20,000 worth of Pacesetter products installed on our home in Texas. Our windows are pretty good, but the siding is horrible. We fought with them and threatened lawsuits and various other actions. finally, someone came to fix the siding after five months and simply took insulation out. They said it was because our house shifted. I know and have proof that the old siding was warped and twisted. They said they would fix the old siding first, but did not. We have a 1240 square foot home and our siding cost $9000. My parents had siding done by a different company on their 2100 square foot home and it was $7000 including relocating a window. Pacesetter overcharges, does not complete the work as written on the contract, and lies constantly. They are a member of the BBB. Someone there is not doing their job. Admin's Response: Hopefully they will, and soon! I assume the more complaints they get, the faster it will happen.

Subject: Who are theses people?????

Im just trying to get the pacesetter corpertion to stop calling my home??? three times a day and ive asked them not to they keep xalling ive put them on my call trace list with my telephone company and also asked them not to call and cursed them out several times and they just ignor me even wehn i tell them im not interesested and they have the wrong person ect

Admin's Response: I'm pretty sure that if you tell them to add your number to their Do Not Call list, and they continue to call, you can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (http://www.ftc.gov/). This will likely result in a fine for the company, and given Pacesetter Corp's current apparent financial condition, I don't think they would want to risk that.

Signed contract for kitchen cabinet refacing on 1/21/05 with expected installed in 3-6 weeks. As of April 1, no cabinets. Followed up with numerous people and finally was told that our cabinets got "lost" in California. New cabinets would be made and to expect a 4-week turnaround for installation. After following up again today (because I did not receive follow-up from Pittsburgh office as promised), was again informed that our cabinets are no where to be found (Michael Strauss). I asked for a detailed explanation - he provided none, other than "I'm sorry, this is very embarrassing". I responded that this was unacceptable and I would like our deposit of $500 returned. Mr. Strauss gave me a name/number of a person in Accts Payable to coordinate the return of our deposit - and of course, no live person on the other end. Left voicemail messages - still awaiting response.

Before I signed a contract with Pacesetter, I looked in Better Business Bureau web site - and NOTHING is posted in the negative for the last 3 years. I have submitted a "formal" complaint with the Better Business Bureau in hopes to have intervention and receive our deposit.

I will follow-up with certified letters to the President and CEO - but I have a feeling it won't even get read.

What a nightmare --

The salesmen are all married and cheat on their wives when they go selling in rural areas; they also sleep with the girls who work in the office

The GM sleeps with all his Admin Staff

The whole organization is crooked from the way they sell to the huge parties they have for the salesmen who sell alot - trips to Florida and other huge parties.

I got booted out the door when it was discovered I was sleeping with the General Manager, and we was also sleeping with the New Admin Manager, who was my boss.

If you want home improvement, go to Home Depot or find a reliable contractor. I was a young woman and didn't know what I was getting myself into. The whole organization from Telemarketing, to their Deeds and Contracts is a fraud.

After 17 years as an employee I have never been happier. I left as an executive and found that the NORMAL business arena is a 40 hour week and allows for talented people like myself to make the same money in half the time i was required to work in my prior job. The company is set up to work management no less than 60 hours a week and this is a six day week. What they ask is for you to forget your family, your own personal time, Your kids birthdays and school plays. This is a company that is in no way geared toward family. They expect sacrafices that in hindsight I would never make again as family is gonna be there when the times get tough and Pacesetter could give a damn. The key word is greed and business at all costs including the employees own personal life and commitments. The only thing I regret is not having left 17 years ago and realizing that there is life after Pacesetter

I have beenthreatened that they are going to send my case to their prosecutor to prosecute because I swear at them when they call. What a bunch scum.

Subject: Very upset

I am very upset - My husband and I had an appointment to meet with Pacesetters on the 18th for cabinet refacing in the kitchen - He came out and gave us a price of about $7,900 -my husband told him it was too high and he dropped it to $7,395 - just because he's a nice guy - we signed the contract and gave him $100 downpayment. On the 19th we decided that we did not want to do this at this time so I faxed and mailed a letter to the salesman cancelling the transaction and asked that he send my husbands paycheck stub and our check for $100 back to us - he said he would be out to the house on the 20th to deliver them himself - he was a no show and since we have made 2 appointments each being a no show and then we received a call wanting to set up an appointment to measure for our new cabinets at which time we told them that we cancelled it. Now it is the 26th and i have received my husbands check stub but no deposit back. I called my bank and the check was cashed on the 25th. And no one seems to be able to tell me when I will be receiving it back.
I found this website while at work because I was looking for the phone # to Pacesetters to call them again. Boy, I am glad now since reading all this that we did cancel this I am just hoping that I won't have to go through a huge ordeal to get my $ back.

Thanks

Subject: Seductive salesman

Note: I probably should be embarassed to be telling this story, because I thought I was fairly well informed on doing business with contractors, and some of the following events pretty much make me look like an idiot. But this sort of business practice should not be allowed to happen and I will be following this incident up with a certified letter to Sam's club headquarters (a very business like version of the events), because Pacesetters is using Sam's clubs good reputation as a way for these unethical salesmen to get into your house.
A few weeks ago I was approached by a lady wearing a blue sam's club vest on one of my frequent trips to Sam's club, who told me that Sam's club now offers remodeling services. Since most of the products I buy at Sam's club are of very good quality and very often the best price that you can get, I thought that remodeling services thru Sam's club would be a good deal and an honest company to do business with.
Well, last night a salesman from Pacesetter came by, the first one, half an hour before they were supposed to be here, He dug out his bluebook to tell me the "Pacesetter Story" and I basically told him, I wasn't interested in the history, just wanted an estimate, so he said he would schedule someone to come out and take measurements. Maybe it was because my exhusband (big tall guy) stopped by to see our daughter, but this short little redhaired salesman gave up real easy. I went back to whatever I was doing before he got here, then about half an hour later the doorbell rings, and there is a younger, taller, goodlooking, dark haired guy standing on my doorstep who tells me he is here from pacesetters, well I am very surprised and tell him that someone had already been here for our appointment, and he asked what the other guy looked like, then fussed about the guy was not supposed to come here and that he would talk to him about it. Now a little background, I am 47,(but look more like I am 38) single, nice-looking, had just bought my house in Nov 2004 and very proud of and really love the house, I had bought a new car the day before this appointment, so I was in a very happy good mood.
I was really looking forward to getting started on having my house remodeled and watching it become my vision of my perfect home.
The pacesetter salesman (his name was allegedly Chris)was an expert at their ten step sales technique, and then some.
He was very flirtatious with me, he noticed my books and my music, and gee, those were his favorites too! He thought my new car was just totally great, and my house was great, but heck anyone with a putty knife could just break into my house in a minute because of my old windows, and he said that I was probably wasting half of my heating and cooling costs because of those windows. ok this is where it is gonna be hard for me to tell, but here are some of the "pickup" lines he used on me. "I feel we have a connection (while gazing fondly at me) ""I noticed you only have a few smile lines on your face" "You are so very intelligent" He also implied he was single (yet later on, mentioned having to go pickup his girlfriend's child at daycare, but the 3 or more beers he had drunk by that time probably made him a little careless about what he said).
He drank about 5 beers, and I had about the same, so I am a little fuzzy on some of the details, but we sat outside and talked and talked, my adult son that lives with me, was even fooled by Chris's act (at one point, when Chris was supposedly going to his 6pm appointment, and my son and I were alone, my son made comments about noticing that Chris and I seemed to find each other very attractive) and was wondering about Chris's remark that he was going to take a nap over here (my son was curious as to where in our house this nap was going to take place)
Chris actually mentioned wanting a beer (I have a well stocked fridge, and am quite fond of imported beer) that's how we started drinking, this is party season in texas, basically our version of marde gras, then when I noticed smoke from a neighbor's yard and commented on them bbqing, he said that's what I should be doing, so I offered to cook dinner on the grill. this was about 6pm, and his phone that had been ringing about every 15 minutes, rang, and he needed to dash off for his 6pm appointment that he was late for, yet when I offered to help him look up the address on mapquest and find a shortcut around the rush hour traffic, he said it was ok, he could look it up on a map in his car.
About 15 minutes after he left, he called and said his 6pm appt canceled and he had to pickup his girlfriend's child at daycare, but would be back for dinner.
to make a long story a little shorter, I did sign a contract, and honestly I do not know if it was all an act that he found me attractive (on one of the online dating sites, my attractiveness rating is 9.06 out of a possible 10, I wasn't dating primarily because of not having time to do so, because of things like moving, remodeling, my job, and my children) I tend to think it was all an act, he should probably be getting an oscar for his acting ability, but thank goodness I figured out pacesetters was a bad deal before my 3 days to cancel are up, so at least I can get out of the contract.
I wonder, if he would have tried to seduce me to get me to sign a contract, this was a very strange experience, some of the questions in my mind, just how was the second salesman "my type" taking into consideration the first salesman saw my ex-husband, so he had some idea what I find attractive in a man.
Do they recruit psyche majors, cause not only was this guy smart, he was very good at manipulating and reading me. how low could or would this company go to sell their overpriced remoding services?

Subject: bad work after the work is done

I wish I had seen this page before my husband and I bought our windows. It is not to say that i'm not happy with my windows because i am happy, but it is the work after. when our windows were put in I was in the hospital. but when I got home the next day my husband told me that there was a scratch on the big window in the livingroom. I called the next day to have someone to come out and fix it, needless to say it is still not fix and I got out of the hospital on Super Bowl Sunday of this year. I wrote them on their web page and had someone call me to make appt. to come out but never showed up. Well finally last week a person showed up with no appt. or no phone call saying that thay were coming over. Well it is a week later and my window is still scratched. I will write and let you know if it gets fixed soon.
